A Fingernail is an item in Pathologic 2. They can be given to the Ferryman to travel across the Town. They can be traded for from Catnip, Chickadees, Finches, Siskins, Swifts, Teensies, and Tots, and traded to Geese and Starlings, as well as to the Dead Item Shop. They can also be randomly found from opening packages or looted from containers.

Worms require one Fingernail to ferry the Haruspex at the start of Pathologic 2. This increases to two starting from Day 7. It is said that ferrymen line the boats with fingernails to make their path smoother. The Gorkhon is a kind, but dangerous river, so ferrymen need fingernails to ensure they can always return.

Notes

  • Fingernails take up 1x1 inventory slots and stack up to 10 times.
  • When bartering, Fingernails are worth 4 to Gooses and 5 to Starlings, and 6 from Chickadees, Finches, Siskins, Swifts, Teensies and Tots. They are also worth 3 to the Dead Item Shop. Catnip trades away Fingernails for just 2, and always has 2 of them for trade.
  • 'Fingernails' were referred to as Boat Tokens in the alpha release.
  • The conversation during which the Worms tell the Haruspex that they require more Fingernails for travel does not occur until Act 4 starts, but the cost of a boat ride will still be increased prior to receiving the conversation during the hours of midnight to 7:30 on Day 7.
