This page lists consumable items found in Pathologic 2, all of which can be consumed by the player for health and status effects. Most drugs can also be administered to other characters. Drugs are typically purchased from pharmacies or obtained from townsfolk via trading. Some drugs are made by the Haruspex in his Lair.

Health Recovery

Bandages and Tourniquets result in immediate recovery of health, whereas Morphine and Painkillers will give the player a buff for 2 in-game hours, during which their health recovery in sleep is improved (these buffs can be stacked by consuming more than one). When consumed by the player, Painkillers have additional auxiliary effects that are determined by the tincture and organ used to brew them. Morphine and Painkillers can also be administered to patients during diagnosis, which will reduce their pain.

Prophylaxis

Increases immunity during Prophylaxis. Tinctures are also used to identify disease symptoms when diagnosing infected patients. When consumed by the player, Twyrine can locate notable events and children's caches, the details of which can be reviewed on its respective page.

Lowers infection. When consumed by the player, all antibiotics will also reduce their health, and home-brewed antibiotics will have small auxiliary effects which are determined by the tincture and organ used to brew them. Note that all of the following reductions made to Infection (Player & NPC) and Health occur relative to those stats' current value rather than their total value, such that neither status meter is fully depleted.

Cures

Cures the Plague entirely. Alternatively, the player character can be cured if subjected to fire-based attacks made by Arsonists and Army Flamethrowers. They can also be cured by speaking to the large heart in the Abattoir titled "Zurkhen's Large Chamber," which unlocks the "Big Heart" Achievement.

The best way not to get infected is to be dead. Antibiotics, that lower infection at the price of general health, are the first step in that direction.

"Bios" means life, which encompasses all that is living, including both the harmful bacteria and humans. Antibiotics attack both. The difference is that while they can kill a person dead, a couple of bacteria always escapes their assault, so it's impossible to cure yourself fully with antibiotics only.

Shortly before his tragic demise, Artemy Burakh, a local pellar, claimed to have produced a miraculous cure capable of erasing the sand plague completely from one's body. Until now, his claims remained unproven. This may be the only sample in existence.
Cures the Plague completely, without any health risks.

In connection with your special mission, you will not be able to avoid infection most likely. Therefore do not despair of the infection. Earlier or later. Maintain the disease at incubation stage, use antibiotics. Sooner or later the serum will be invented. Remember the so-called “powders”. According to preliminary information these quasy-antibiotics can bring you to lethal outcome, but they, as a rule, destroy the disease. Stand firm.

"Drugs" is the third of five tabs in the player's inventory. Drugs include antibiotics, cures, immunity boosters, painkillers, and vaccines. Drugs may have effects on health, immunity, and infection.

Vaccines An enhanced variant of the "organic vaccine". A prophylactic drug based on a weakened culture of the Sand Plague. Tested by volunteers and judged to be suited for distribution. Restores immunity for 4 hours, rendering a person almost completely insusceptible to the effects of the disease. (Level of immunity - up to 80%. The medicine does small damage to health.) Immediately raises the level of immunity to 90 and maintains immunity level for 4 hours.

Immunity Booster An immunity booster. A masterpiece of this country's pharmacology. Increases immunity by a great deal. Large doses cause negligible harm. When taken, health decreases by 2 and immunity increases by 60.

Painkiller A powerful narcotic painkiller. It's very good at reducing pain and has a similarly strong sedative effect (35s, -35e). Restores strength when sleeping (3e/ph, 3s/ph). It should be remembered that an overdose can lead to a severely weakened state and even death. Effective for ten hours. Upon immediate ingestion, health increases by 35 and exhaustion increases by 35. Each hour of sleep increases health by 30 points and exhaustion decreases by 40. The effect lasts for 10 hours.

Antibiotic An antibiotic that kills microbes and suppresses their growth. Feromycinum causes a sharp decrease in the number of harmful microorganisms and halves and infection's rate of progression. It does not eradicate the disease, but can significantly lower the level of infection and even return the patient to consciousness. Is very harmful to health. Reduces infection to 20% of its current level, exhaustion increases by 30, and health decreases by 30.

Immunity Booster New-generation immunity booster. Excellent for increasing immunity. Speeds up white blood cell production. Can be dangerous in large doses. When taken, health decreases by 1.5 and immunity increases by 30.

Meradorm
Painkiller A painkiller (-25e) rather than a sleeping draught. Restores a small amount of health (3s). Good for restoring strength during sleep (5e/ph, 8s/ph). Meradorm has a strong sedative effect and induces sleep even during excruciating pain. The effect lasts for 5 hours. Upon immediate ingestion, health increases by 3 and exhaustion increases by 25. Each hour of sleep increases health by 7 points and exhaustion decreases by 25. The effect lasts for 5 hours.

Antibiotic An antibiotic that kills microbes in the organism and suppresses their growth. Monomycinum doesn't kill harmful microorganisms, but strongly impedes their reproduction which is crucial for this type of infection. Unable to destroy the disease but can reduce the rate of infection to a third. Significantly harmful to health. Reduces infection to 40% of its current level, exhaustion increases by 25, and health decreases by 25.

Painkiller A universal opiate painkiller. Has a strong analgesic (15s) and sedative (-25e) effect. Used for heavy injuries, acute pain and in preparation for surgery. Reduces fatigue (8e/ph) and increases health (2s/ph) when sleeping. The effect lasts for 10 hours. Immediately restores 15 health and increases exhaustion by 25. While sleeping, 20 points of health are gained per hour and exhaustion is reduced by 25 points per hour. Effect for lasts 10 hours.

Antibiotic An antibiotic that kills microbes in the organism and suppresses their growth. Neomycinum slightly decreases the number of harmful microorganisms but does not slow down the rate of infection. Unable to destroy the disease, but can halve the level of infection. Slightly harmful to health. Reduces infection to 60% of its current level, increases exhaustion by 15, decreases health by 15.

Painkiller Has an equal analgesic and sedative effect (10s, -10e). Provides excellent restoration of strength when sleeping (8е/ph, 13s/ph). A good local anesthetic. The effect lasts for 9 hours. Upon immediate ingestion, health increases by 10 and exhaustion increases by 10. Each hour of sleep increases health by 13 points and exhaustion decreases by 25. The effect lasts for 9 hours.

Cure An organic serum based on the antibodies that Artemy Burakh managed to procure from some mysterious source. Completely eradicates the effects of the infection at any stage. Is not harmful. Only a few portions exist in the town. Probably no more than a dozen. Can be used on self or other characters to completely cure the Plague.

Cure A mix of randomly chosen drugs (mostly antibiotics). Those "shmowders" were created by children to "play Plague." The random recipe produced an unexpected result—the powder completely removes the effects of Sand Plague infection, but severely damages health. When used, the Plague will be completely cured and health will be reduced down to only 5 points. If health was less than 5 when the Shmowder was taken, it will not change.

Painkiller A strong infusion of the oxitocia tvirinum herb. Boosts immunity. Acts as an analgesic, restores strength during sleep. According to elder locals, critical doses of twyrine can alter the effects of infection. Some of the effects of twyrine are still unknown. One bottle of Twyrine will increase both exhaustion and immunity by 5 points.

Vaccines The final variant of the "organic vaccine". A unique prophylactic drug based on a live culture of the Sand Plague. Even if one's immunity is completely suppressed by the infection, given a safe environment it will be restored in 25 minutes. Maintains one's immunity in infected districts for four hours. (Level of immunity - up to 95%, period of effect - up to 8 hours). Immediately raises immunity to 120%. The effect lasts for 4 hours. Immunity will fall below 100% after 6 hours.

Immunity Booster A valuable immunity boosting infusion made of several herbs. Its effect heavily depends on random factors: the types of herbs, the time and place the herbs were gathered, the composition of the herb mix. Increases immunity and decreases health. Potency of effect varies depending on the herbs used when brewing.

Antibiotic A combination of twyrine infusion and some organic material. May function as a primitive antibiotic. A prototype of the future serum. How close of a prototype is yet to be determined with careful research. Decreases infection and decreases health. Potency of effect varies depending on the Twyrine Extract used in the mixture.
