The Shotgun is a ranged Weapon in Pathologic 2. It shoots Shotgun Ammo, and can hold up to 2 shots. While it becomes almost useless at medium to long range, it is devastating at close distances, and excels indoors. Because of its small ammo capacity, it is not recommended for use against multiple opponents at once. As with all other firearms, the Shotgun's pellet spread tightens when aimed down sights.
The Shotgun is first available via Bad Grief starting on Day 4 for 11780 money (Grief's Shotgun will have an initial durability of ~70%). As the game progresses, Grief's asking price will increases until it plateaus for 15200 money on Day 9.
The Haruspex can also receive a Shotgun as a reward from Bad Grief for killing Barley the Barber and his men as part of a quest available as of 07:30 on Day 8, after Bad Grief relocates to the Cathedral. Should he not want to get involved, the Haruspex can also purchase a shotgun from Barley instead (along with all other goods previously sold by Grief).
Shotguns can be looted from infected districts. They are found inside houses and are stored in containers. They rarely spawn and will have low durability.
Shotguns can be sold to Bad Grief/Barley and traded to Militia.
The Shotgun fires 5 pellets within each round: If all 5 connect, they collectively deal 110 damage per bodyshot and 165 damage per headshot. Each shot decreases durability by 5%. The chance of jamming is (1 - durability)2.

Notes
- It is likely that the Shotgun's real life likeness comes from a Sawn-off variant of the TOZ 34 hunting shotgun.[1]
- Shotguns take up 2x4 inventory slots. They do not stack.

The Sawn-Off Shotgun is a ranged weapon found in Pathologic that is available in all routes. However, Sawn-Off Shotguns can only be wielded by the Bachelor and the Haruspex. Sawn-Off Shotguns use Shells for ammo.
Sawn-Off Shotguns may be bought from Bad Grief. The Haruspex also has the option to trade with Andrey Stamatin for Sawn-Off Shotguns.
Sawn-Off Shotgun deals 180 damage by bodyshot and 540 damage by headshot.

“ | A fearsome makeshift weapon, possibly made from a double-barreled hunting gun. The smooth barrels are cut short. Fires 16 gauge shotgun rounds. Deadly in close quarters, but ineffective at long distances. The trigger system allows to fire two shots in a row. | „ |

The Sawn-off Shotgun in use by the Haruspex
Notes
- Despite the fact that a sawed-off shotgun still possesses the same amount of devastating knock-back and force of a regular shotgun, The Bachelor and the Haruspex carry the shotgun in only one hand (which is extremely ill-advised in real life).
- There is a visual bug which, while at a standstill, causes the player model's left index-finger to appear at the bottom left of the screen when the Shotgun is raised.
- Whilst its Pathologic 2 counterpart possesses a more distinct look and counterpart, the Pathologic Sawn-off Shotgun is a more nondescript sawn-off hunting rifle, as its description entails. Its Russian name, самопал roughly translates to "self-made" (Sawn-off)[1][2].
